Exhibition: Tobacco, a wealth of damaging effects
9 panel exhibit
Tobacco killed 100 million people throughout the world during the 20th century. It kills 5 million more each year, of whom 90,000 are British and 400,000 are American.
In the UK, the cost to the NHS of treating diseases caused by smoking is approximately £1.5 billion a year.
The tobacco industry continues to make huge profits, while young people round the world are still attracted to taking up the damaging habit.
